SPP: Season 6

The cast & crew of Supernatural Studios are back to work, and have already started shooting season 6, so it is about time we started this campaign up again. I do want to apologize to missyjack, since I told her that I would have this post up two weeks ago, but immediately after had to take a short break from fandom, so sorry about that. Also, I want to let everybody know that our contact at the studio, Twitter user VancouverNights, has taken a job on another show, so we cannot guarantee that the person replacing her will hang the postcards on the wall or send us pictures. Hopefully, our original motivation of giving back, and saying "thank you" to the cast & crew is enough to keep all of you participating another year. :)

In case any of you reading this right now are new to the community, please allow me to explain briefly what this community is all about: We send thank you messages to the cast & crew of Supernatural for working so hard to give us the show that we all love. We need community members to buy or make a postcard, as well as write a welcome back, thank you, or congratulatory message on it, then stamp it and drop it in the mail. Once you have sent your postcard, please feel free to comment and let us know so that we can say thank you.

If you have any questions, just comment to this post. I hope that you'll all join us for another year. Thank you!

Things of note:
1) Sources inside the studio have informed us that they really like funny or original postcards, so we encourage you to buy the funny and/or strange ones, OR make your own cards. Heavy card stock in the dimensions of 4.25"x6" or 6"x8" are treated the same as store bought cards.

2) Please remember to be POLITE and RESPECTFUL in both words and pictures on the card; these cards are being sent to a place of business. What is funny in fandom is not the same as what is funny in an office, or at a studio.

3) Please do not spray your cards with perfume or send any food items through the mail (if you feel the need to send gifts); some people can have extreme reactions to perfume, and food is never accepted at the studio.

4) To send a postcard from the states into Canada the cost is now 75 cents*, sending postcards within Canada is 57 cents*, and sending a postcard from the U.K. to Canada is 62p*. If you are from a country other than the United States or Canada, please check with your local post-office for prices; we will not be providing that information for you.

*These numbers may change at the discretion of their respective agencies.

5) For members in the United States (I'm not sure if it works for those outside the Continental U.S.) there is a service through the US postal system that allows you to create a postcard online, they will then print and mail it for you for a small fee. The service is called Premium Postcard. If there are similar services in your area, please let us know and we will edit this post to include them.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR PARTICIPATING
Congratulations and thank you to everyone for your continued participation in and enthusiasm for this project. A message from our friend VancouverNights at Supernatural Studios:

Let yr followers know that they may live vicariously through my
Tweets, but I live vicariously through the post cards. It's cool to
see the world, and the imagination that the fans have.

Thx.

SPP: End of the shooting season

Hello everyone!

The shooting season for Supernatural is almost over, and is scheduled to officially end on March 29th. If you live outside of North America, please keep your postcards for next season; they will not make it to the studios on time. However, if you live within North America you have a day or two to send one last postcard, and have it arrive before the studio is packed up for the summer.

If you were wondering what happens to all your postcards at the end of each season, cloex_brosluvr recently got us this bit of information from a member of the crew:

"We have 4 photo albums of postcards, 150 cards in each. I think we're gonna need at least two for 5th season."

They keep them all, and appreciate each and every one of them. Thank you to everyone who sent in cards this season, you did an amazing job! See you all again for season 6 :D

P.S. No pictures yet; they may have time to take some once they are packing up next week. I'll ask as soon as I can. :)

Happy New Year everyone and welcome back! The cast & crew of Supernatural Studios are back to work on the second half of season 5, and will begin shooting the 100th episode in a few short days. \o/ I think it would be awesome if we as a community could send 100 "Congratulations on your 100th episode" postcards. What do you all think?

If you didn't catch them, we received pictures from the studio showing all the cards we have sent in this year hanging up in the conference room. You can find those pictures HERE and HERE, and pictures from previous seasons in the right sidebar of the community.

In case any of you reading this right now are new to the community, please allow me to explain briefly what this community is all about: We send thank you messages to the cast & crew (and congratulations when something like reaching 100 episodes happens) of Supernatural for working so hard to give us a show that we all love. We need community members to buy or make a postcard, write a welcome back, thank you, or congratulatory message on it, stamp it, and then drop it in the mail. Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to this post and let us know so that we have an idea about how many cards the community has collectively sent.

If you have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail one of the mods: deathisyourart, phantomas & thirdsouthobbi. The community is now mirrored on Dreamwidth, but we would prefer if comments were left here on livejournal if possible. Thank you!

Season 5 Postcard Wall Pictures - Part 2.5

Apparently, there were some holiday cards not included in the last batch. No worries, the elves have taken pictures of those too. Happy Holidays!

If you came across this post first, then part 2.0 can be found here.

Holiday Cards at Supernatural StudiosCollapse )

Posting Rules:
1. Go ahead and link to the posts with the pictures; we like that.
2. Please do not repost the pictures unaltered. Link to the community instead so we can attempt to attract more members, and so people know exactly where the pictures came from.
3. If you MUST repost the picture for your f-list, then please draw a big circle or an arrow on the picture pointing out where your card is, and cite the community as the source of the photo. Thank you!

Season 5 Postcard Wall Pictures - Part 2

Thank you to everyone who has sent postcards and holiday cards so far this year. If you see your card on the conference wall then let us know, and if not, then they should be in the next batch at the end of the shooting season in March.

In January we are going to be conducting a big push to send cards in celebration of Supernatural's 100th episode (episode 18 is shooting in January), so please come back and join us for that.

Happy Holidays from the mods at spn_postcards!

Season 5 postcard wall - half way pointCollapse )

posted

Here's a pic from the Supernatural production offices in Vancouver with the postcards sent since the beginning of S5. Since the beginning of November, when the crew set the challenge of sending them 100 cards before the end of the year, there's been 107 postcards and 23 holiday cards received! They again said how much they love getting these and "Hearts to you all!"

Thanks to the mods at spn_postcards for their work and all of you for sending your cards. There'll be a new campaign in early '10 in honour of the filming of the 100th episode.

Season 5 Postcard Wall Pictures

The first set of pictures for the season 5 postcard wall have made their way to our community. Do you see yours? Comment and let us know where your card is located, or leave a big THANK YOU to our contact at the Supernatural Studios for providing us with these pictures. :D

A new season and a new homeCollapse )

This is just the beginning of the season and of a new wall, so if you have yet to send your postcards, fear not! All information on how to send a postcard to the cast & crew of Supernatural Studios can be found at the season 5 postcard campaign post.

SPP: Season 5, September Update

Welcome all new members, and those of you returning from vacation and Vancon! I just wanted to check in with everyone, and to let you know that I have heard from the studio and they are loving the postcards that you all have been sending. :D The cards are getting a slightly different home this year; the hallway was freshly painted during the hiatus between season 4 and season 5, so it looks like the cards will be wallpapering another room instead. I have been promised pictures for later in the season, and that should give everyone something to look forward to; I don't know exactly when I will receive the pictures, so if you want to see your card on the wall then you should mail it sooner rather than later.

I've had a few people ask me if it is too late to send cards, and the answer is NO! You can continuously send cards until the end of the shooting season -- which is at the end of March. For other rules and guidelines please see THIS POST.

Also, please don't forget to let us know when you have sent a postcard. I know that I haven't been responding to everyone to say thank you, but the comments give me a good idea about the level of participation for this endeavor. And before I forget, THANK YOU to everyone who has sent a postcard so far this season!

ETA: Clarice has pointed out that anteka has pictures of the first set of cards that arrived on set this season at the following post: http://anteka.livejournal.com/699410.html

Now that both Canada Day and the Fourth of July are behind us the cast & crew of Supernatural are back to work and creating Season 5. \o/ That means that it is time to get this community out of hiatus and mailing those postcards again. We can't just let the walls of Supernatural Studios remain blank, now can we?

A number of community members have asked me if we received any pictures of the postcard wall from season 4, and I'm sorry to say that the answer is no. I am unaware of any "bloggers day" for season 4 that would have brought us photos, and the studio didn't send me any either. It is sad for our community; we always love to see our cards on the wall, but sometimes that is just the way the cookie crumbles. Rest assured that when we receive anything of that nature we always link to it, or post about it; pictures are a great motivator and it would do no good to the community for the mods to keep pictures to ourselves. Thanks to comments made by members of the cast, we do know that the cards are still being put on the wall, and that they are truly appreciated by everyone involved!

In case some members of the staff have changed, and new personnel are unaware of what all these cards are all about, we will be sending a letter off to the studio reminding them of what the aim of this community is and who we are. Also, we would appreciate it if some of you could put the community address -- in small letters -- somewhere on your postcard: http://community.livejournal.com/spn_postcards

In case any of you are new to the community, please allow me to explain briefly what this community is all about: We send thank you messages to the cast & crew (specifically the crew; they work longer hours and often receive less praise) of Supernatural for working so hard to give us a show that we all love. We need community members to buy or make a postcard, write a welcome back or thank you message on it, put a stamp on it, and then drop it in the mail. Nice and easy! Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to this post and let us know so that we can gage community participation. If you would also like to comment with scans or pictures of your homemade or store bought cards then please do so; we all like to see what you have bought and/or created for the project.

If you have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail one of the mods: deathisyourart, phantomas & thirdsouthobbi. The community is now mirrored on Dreamwidth, but we would prefer if comments were left here on livejournal if possible. Thank you!
