Season 3 Thank You cards - Take 2

A member of the crew has asked for MORE CARDS!

It is THE DAY! The day that Supernatural returns to our television sets with shiny new episodes for season 3! For the next few weeks, we the mods would like to request that all of you send a simple postcard to the cast & crew of Supernatural welcoming them back to our T.V. screens -- you can wish them well on season 3, thank them for all their hard work, or even just wish them a very scary Hallowe'en (yes LJ, it IS spelled that way!).

Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to this post with "sent" or something similar; we like to keep a running total of cards sent to gage community participation. I'll be setting up a post this weekend where you can comment with scans of your homemade or store bought cards, so that you can share your Photoshop or shopping skillz with the community.

If you would like more information about this campaign or have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail me at deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com.

Why: Hallowe'en & Season Premiere
When: October 3nd to October 31st
To wish everyone on set a Happy Hallowe'en, to tell them how much we enjoyed the premiere for season 3, and to show support leading into November sweeps.

Supernatural Cast & Crew c\o
Supernatural Films Inc.
8085 Glenwood Drive
Burnaby, B.C.
V3N 5C8

Things of note:
1) Sources inside the studio have informed us that they really like funny or original postcards, so we encourage you to make your own cards if you can. Heavy card stock in the dimensions of 4.25"x6" or 6"x8" are treated the same as store bought cards.

2) Please remember to be POLITE and RESPECTFUL; these cards are being sent to a place of business after all.

3) To send a postcard from the states into Canada the cost is now 69 cents, and sending postcards within Canada is 52 cents. If you are from a country other than the United States or Canada, please check with your local post-office for prices.

4) If you would like to see pictures of our cards in the studio offices last year, then check out THIS POST by TV blogger raelee who was invited to the set for bloggers day last season.

Kripke has expressed in more than one interview that Supernatural was dangerously close to not being renewed at the end of last season, and with The Office moving to Thursdays at 9pm, the show has even more competition for ratings this season. One of the things that can be done to help keep the show on the air is to make the advertisers -- the people/companies that pay all the bills -- aware that their ads are being seen, and that we the viewers appreciate their support of our show. During the months of November (during fall sweeps) and March (directly after February sweeps) I would like to ask that anyone who wants to show their support for the show to send cards/postcard to one or multiple advertisers with a brief thank you message.

There will be more information on this at a later date, but in the mean time I need volunteers (in the U.S. and Canada especially) to write down what commercials air during this season's episodes, and then to e-mail them to me along with your state/province and the channel on which you watched the show. I will be compiling addresses for the advertisers, so please don't concern yourself with that.

If you would like to know where this idea came from, then please see this article here: http://heywriterboy.blogspot.com/2007/07/emily-posts-guide-to-save-our-show.html.
It is written by a blogger Emily Post, and point number 5 in the guide is what we are aiming for here. I do want to make it clear that this community is not going to turn into a "Save our Show" location. We all love the show, but this community is for postcards with positive messages, and that is all. If you would like to be pointed in the direction of communities or websites that are doing more then just ask; I will be happy to provide a few links.

A special thanks to fangirlsays for discussing this idea with me all summer.

I try to watch every week, although the reception isn't fantastic, it's normally good enough to figure out what they're trying to shill, so I'm up for watching for the western PA contingent. (Or as part of the western PA contingent, anyway. :) )

That would be truly appreciated. Thank you for volunteering!

You can send your postcard whenever you wish to, it is just that I will stop bugging community members to send cards for this campaign after the 31st. The only time we will absolutely ask you not to send cards is about a week to 10 days before the cast & crew are scheduled to finish shooting the season; the cards will not make it to the offices in time.

I'll be happy to offer my services to cover the central/eastern PA area!

YAY! *hugs* Thank you!
Since you are taping, you don't even have to watch the commercials until your 4th, 5th, even 6th viewing of the episode. :P

I'll definitely send another postcard (will reply again once it's sent), and I'll be glad to write down the ads run during the show in my area (western NC). I'll also see if we can get this out to the Supernatural Underground (unless you've already mentioned it to Erika?) :D
Oct. 4th, 2007 05:01 pm (UTC)
I JUST e-mailed you! LOL!
I have to run to class right now, so if you can get this info to the Underground I would really appreciate it; I won't be back at my computer for a few hours and the sooner we get volunteers the better. THANK YOU in advance!

And I will mark you down for North Carolina. :)

I live in Alabama, and I have it DVR'd. Do you want me to e-mail you?

We definitely need information from New York. You can e-mail it to deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com. Thank you!

Hey! I can volunteer (for the ad thing). I'm in Toronto (and with cable) so I can catch it on 166 (the CW), and some other Canadian channel.
Oct. 7th, 2007 02:12 am (UTC)
That's wonderful, thank you!
Oct. 8th, 2007 02:15 pm (UTC)
I'll definitely be sending cards. :) And I can send you a list of commercials for Arkansas. And I would love any more links you have to help out Supernatural because I'm already worried that it won't be back for a 4th season :( Thank you for doing this!
Oct. 8th, 2007 10:06 pm (UTC)
I appreciate all the help that you can give me. Thank you!

Your best bet for finding out what campaigns are running to help the show is to sign up for the Supernatural Underground Newsletter and to check out their affiliates and the forum they have on their site. The Newsletter is sent out the moment they get new on campaigns, contests, charity events, conferences, etc..

If you need a volunteer from Washington state I'd love to help. I get the show on KSTW which is from Seattle/Tacoma.

I sent a postcard in July, but I still hunting around for a good one for this time.

I would appreciate that, thank you!
Oct. 9th, 2007 04:59 pm (UTC)
I have sent my postcard and I could track the advertisers in Red River Valley. I live on the North Dakota side of the boundary.

Thank you, for both volunteering and for sending a postcard already; I appreciate your help!
